The American Medical Resource Institute Department of Public Safety is charged with the physical safety and security of the school's employees, students, visiting members of the public, offices and classroom activities both on campus and at remote locations. All officers are trained and law enforcement certified according to the standards set by the State of Illinois. In addition, Special Response Team (SRT) officers are certified emergency medical/CPR-AED and tactical situation management First Responders. Besides the Patrol/Enforcement Division, AMRI DPS Special Agents are responsible for monitoring and protecting the electronic information systems and storage in compliance with federal laws and rules of the U.S. Department of Education. DPS officers work cooperatively with state and local law enforcement agencies as well as the Department of Homeland Security addressing issues of campus counter-terrorism and violence. Command Officers backgrounds include training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC); International School of Tactical Medicine; Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Drug training; Campus Violence/Intervention training; Advanced Weapons and Tactics; Criminal Investigation; and are state and nationally certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors.
